Toy Treasures

Compassion Connection is collecting new toys to bless families that otherwise would not be able to have Christmas gifts for their children this year. Toy Treasures is a pseudo store that will be set up where parents can "shop" for presents for their children. A parent will be able to "purchase" 3 items for each child at around 10% of the retail value of the item. Although this is departing from the usual toy giveaways done by many at Christmas, we believe that this method will affirm a person's dignity and worth. The parents can feel the dignity that they "purchased" toys for their children. Compassion Connection is excited to offer this event to families who are in need in our community.

Toy Treasures containers for toys are in the large lobby at South Hills Assembly, at Hillcrest Christian Academy, at Dollar General at Hillcrest Mall and Champion Fitness & Wellness Complex on Clairton Blvd through December 12. Perhaps you would be willing to place a container or promote Toy Treasures at your place of business. Please feel free to contact Kay at 412-835-8900, ext. 104 if you desire to participate.

Toy Treasures distribution will be December 20 from 12:00 – 4:00 PM to those who have registered. Many volunteers are needed to make this event successful. Please email me at kay.stepp@southhillsassembly.org if you desire to assist or sign up at the lobby table.

How does this differ from Angel Tree?

Angel Tree gifts go to bless children of prisoners. We desire to continue to bless these families; however, there are families in our church and community who have difficult circumstances in their lives and are deserving of having a nice Christmas for their children. Because of this, we are planning the Toy Treasures event.
