What is it?
A specialized group of no more than 15 ministerial leaders who have been abused or are ministering to those who have been abused. Sessions provide psychoeducation, spiritual direction, group dynamic theory and application, developmental teachings, and counseling for those that reach out to others. This group supplies aid, support, and guidance to those uniquely in leadership for continued growth and development to enhance the healing process for themselves and for others. This group uses a mind, body, spirit approach.
Confidentiality is respected and mutual support is encouraged. Individual healing is the main focus with leadership being encouraged to understand how themselves and others feel, whether the role/situation/challenge being discussed is familiar in their lives and others, and where and why that behavior developed. Positive change is gradually implemented as leaders become more aware of their thoughts and behaviors. Specific focus is on restructuring thoughts and behaviors using biblical precepts and principles for continued growth and development to enhance the healing process. Leaders will learn how to prompt the same types of thought change and behaviors in those they minister to.
What Type of Therapeutic Process is Used?
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) is are used to restructure negative coping habits and unhealthy thinking patterns. Specific focus is on thoughts and behaviors that tend to get one “stuck” on the road to continued healing, forgiveness, and restoration.
