- Abuse Recovery (SoulCare)
SoulCare is a safe place for those wounded by physical,
emotional, spiritual, verbal, or sexual abuse. Both the abused and
the abuser are among the wounded. Wounds are sometimes obvious and
sometimes hidden deep within. They shape and distort the self-image
and damage the way a person relates to others. Most people have wounds
from some form of abuse. SoulCare classes provide safe, confidential
small groups where people can work toward change. The leaders offer
their stories as fellow travelers on the journey to healing, and encourage
group members to share their stories. Because these leaders have known
wounding and experienced grace, they are able to offer hope to others
who are hurting. SoulCare is a 13-week class which begins each meeting
as a large group and then divides into small, facilitator-based groups.
Participants agree to confidentiality in the small group, regular
attendance, respect for others, honesty, and a commitment to self-care.
Church attendance is not a requirement, although SoulCare is a Bible-based
program, grounded in the belief of the atoning work of Jesus Christ,
the son of God, and the healing ministry of the Holy Spirit.

- Anger Management
Everyone experiences anger. Jesus displayed anger
at the temple in Capernaum (John 2:12-25). God was angry with Solomon
(1 Kings 11:9). God was angry with Israel (2 Kings 17:18). Jesus was
angry with the Pharisees (Mark 3:5). Anger itself is not sinful. However,
God tells us "'In your anger do not sin': Do not let the sun go down
while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold" (Ephesians
4:26-27). "Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and
slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate
to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave
you" (Ephesians 4:31-32). Learn how to better manage your anger by:
1) Identifying what triggers your anger, 2) Finding hope to change
learned patterns of thought and behavior that feed your anger, 3)
Discovering how our emotions can fuel our anger, and 4) Uncovering
how bitter roots of our past can create a harbor for our anger.
